Amassing 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Gardner is a venerated career and management counselor whose expertise is widely recognized. Retired since 2016, he previously served as a career counselor and career management consultant with Gardner Associates in Oakland, CA, from 1984 to 2017. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Gardner was a management developing trainer at the Hong Kong Productivity Center from 1984 to 1987, a personnel director at Transamerica Airlines from 1980 to 1984, and a division personnel officer at Wells Fargo Bank from 1977 to 1980.

Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Gardner was an adjunct faculty member at John F. Kennedy University from 1995 to 1996. In addition, he acted as a career counselor and outplacement consultant at Forty Plus of Northern California from 1988 to 1993, and an instructor at Armstrong University from 1980 to 1981. In order to remain aware of recent changes within the industry, he also maintains affiliation with a variety of organizations, including the American Counseling Association, the National Career Development Association, the California Career Development Association and the California Counseling Association. Likewise, Mr. Gardner has authored three books throughout his vocation, including "Achieving Effective Supervision" in 1984, "Managing Personnel Administration Effectively" in 1986, and "Career Counseling: Matching Yourself to a Career" in 1987.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Gardner pursued an education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. He subsequently earned a Master of Arts at California State University in 1974 and a Master of Science at San Francisco State University in 1992. Mr. Gardner is a registered professional career counselor, a nationally certified career counselor, and a master career counselor through the National Career Development Association.

A first lieutenant in the United States Army in the early 1970s, Mr. Gardner received the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry in recognition of his brilliant service to his country. In light of his exceptional achievements, he was deemed a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. Notably, Mr. Gardner has been highlighted in several editions of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
