KELSO, WA, August 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Larry W. Turner, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Turner celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An esteemed wildlife toxicologist, Dr. Turner recently performed consultant work for Compliance Services International in Tacoma, WA, for 12 years before retiring in 2016. He formerly spent many years as a senior scientist in ecotoxicology and as the Project Manager of the Endangered Species Protection Program in the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Recruited by the EPA in 1977, the organization was seeking to hire wildlife and fishery biologists who could become ecotoxicologists, a new discipline with limited numbers of potential candidates. A great opportunity for Dr. Turner, he spent 27 years as a member of EPA. He started in OPP and then moved to the new Office of Toxic Substances to help develop their program before returning to OPP. During his EPA tenure, Dr. Turner was recognized with 3 Bronze Medals for Commendable Service between 1984 and 2003, and received a Gold Medal for Exceptional Service in 1994.

Prior to his years with the EPA, Dr. Turner spent two years as the assistant director at Malheur Field Station in Burns, OR, and taught as an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota. In addition to his numerous presentations and scientific papers over the years, he was honored to speak as session keynote speaker at the First International Symposium on Terrestrial Ecotoxicology in France. He has also been an Expert Group member and guideline author and advisor for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and has advised the government of Mali on pesticide uses. Since its origination in 1980, he has been charter member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and is also a member of the American Society of Mammalogists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Sigma Xi.

Born in Alhambra, CA, Dr. Turner later served in the U.S. Navy in California and Nevada from 1960 to 1964, completed his undergraduate degree at Portland State University in 1968, and Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona in 1972. Notably, he was the recipient of a Theodore Roosevelt Fund Research Grant from the American Museum of Natural History in 1972.

Married to Joanne Wentland since 1970 with one child, and two others from a previous marriage, Dr. Turner dedicated time as the president and member of the board of trustees for the Unity of Fairfax Church in Virginia. Enjoying his retirement, some of his hobbies include genealogy, birdwatching and playing the guitar. He has been showcased in the ninth and 10th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Larry W. Turner, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
