Herbert Augustus Lubs Celebrates Six Decades of Medical Research Excellence

Dr. Lubs won the John P. Kennedy Jr. International Award for Research in Mental Retardation



Backed by an impressive 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Lubs serves as professor emeritus with the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami.

    TOWSON, MD, August 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Herbert A. Lubs has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Backed by an impressive 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Lubs serves as professor emeritus with the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. At the start of his career, he worked as a clinical associate for the endocrinology branch of the National Cancer Institute. Subsequently, Dr. Lubs became interested in X-linked intellectual disabilities, and began working as a special trainee in research and genetics for numerous universities such as the University of Michigan, and Yale University.

An expert in his field, Dr. Lubs holds a Bachelor of Arts from Washington and Lee University, and a Doctor of Medicine from Yale University. Upon graduating, he pursued an internship and residencies in medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Due to the ever-changing nature of the medical field, Dr. Lubs affiliates himself with the American Society of Human Genetics, the American Federation for Clinical Research, the Society for the Study of Social Biology, and the Southern Society for Pediatric Research.

In addition to the work he has accomplished in the medical field, Dr. Lubs has received the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. International Award. He is especially proud of his wife, Betty Lou Lubs, who is also an MD. Together, Dr. Lubs and his wife started a research endowment called The Science Society and the Arts Conference at Washington and Lee University.

Over the years, Dr. Lubs has lent his expertise in varying, clinical, educational and executive roles to the University of Tromso, the University of Colorado Medical Center, the Yale Private Diagnostic Clinics, and the VA Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut. One of the highlights of his career has been contributing to the scientific basis for pre-natal diagnosis of Fragile X Syndrome, the most commonly inherited form of mental disability in males. Looking ahead, Dr. Lubs intends to continue in his role as professor emeritus.
