The president, founder and management consultant of KH Consulting Group in Los Angeles for more than 30 years, Dr. Hartsough's full-service consulting firm has served more than 200 clients across 25 states and nine foreign countries, specializing in a variety of fields, including academia, government, healthcare, utilities, bioterrorism and air and seaports. Previously serving as a managing consultant for Willis Towers Watson for six years, she has been an associate adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern California since 2014. Dr. Hartsough formerly served as a senior program officer at the Academy for Educational Development, assistant director of the center for youth and family studies at the University of Virginia, learning disabilities resource teacher and supervisor at Fairfax County Public Schools, assistant teacher at Perkins School for the Blind, and VISTA volunteer in eastern Tennessee.

Dr. Hartsough has split the remainder of her time between consulting, teaching, and writing/producing in Los Angeles, having penned written award-winning feature and short film screenplays, most of which focus on social issues to increase awareness through stories. Her feature-length screenplays have won several film festival and screenwriting contests. Notably, Dr. Hartsough's shorts have been included at approximately 50 festivals to date, including at Palm Springs International Film Festival and Los Angeles Shorts Fest, among other festivals.

Dr. Hartsough is a former member of the national advisory council at the School of Communications at Northwestern University and former board member for several other organizations, including the National Association of Women's Business Owners (NAWBO-LA). Responsible for co-founding the LA Higher Education Roundtable between 1987 and 1994, she remains active as a member of the council of 100 at Northwestern University since 1999. Dr. Hartsough is also an active member of Women in Film, Women's Leadership Council and Organization of Women Executives.

Dr. Hartsough holds a Bachelor of Science in communication from Northwestern University, Master of Education from Tufts University, Master of Education from the University of Virginia and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Virginia. She has been further certified in feature screenwriting from the University of California at Los Angeles. Married to Jeffrey W. Hartsough since 1983, Dr. Hartsough has one son who is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in his second year at the University of California, Berkeley and is married to Kate Macauley, a Vice President at Goldman Sachs.

Dr. Hartsough's works have earned her multiple awards, including a Top 50 Women Award from Big Thinking Women and a Top 10 Award from the Century City Chamber of Commerce.
