Dr. Ilhwan Yoon currently works as a professor in Department of English Language and Literature at Hanyang University.

With more than 30 years of industry experience to his credit, Dr. Yoon currently works as a professor in Department of English Language and Literature at Hanyang University. In addition to this appointment, he has held multiple positions for Hanyang University, such as the vice dean of the College of Humanities since 2017 and director of the G2 geology in the CORE program since 2016. Previously, he served at Pusan National University as a professor from 2004 to 2014 and director of BK PLUS from 2011 to 2014. Dr. Yoon began his career in the artillery in the Korean Augmentation to the United States Army from 1986 to 1988.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Yoon pursued an education at Hanyang University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature in 1990. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature in 1992, also at Hanyang University. Dr. Yoon concluded his studies in 2000 at the University at Buffalo, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Yoon has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He has contributed to the translations for such publications as "Translation, Power, Subversion" in 2008 as well as "Under Ben Bulen: The Last Poems of W. B. Yeats" in 2010. Dr. Yoon found success with his written works as well, having authored many articles for such esteemed journals as the Forum for World Literature Studies, the Modern British and American Language and Literature, the Yeats Journal of Korea and Studies in the Modern British and American Poetry, among others.
Additionally, Dr. Yoon remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He had maintained involvement as the vice president of the Yeats Society of Korea from 2017 to 2018. Dr. Yoon was also active with the English Language and Literature Association of Korea, for which he held the post of secretary general in 2015.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Yoon has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. Between 2007 and 2017, he was awarded research funds from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea multiple times. Furthermore, Dr. Yoon was presented with a Visiting Scholar Fellowship from the Harvard–Yenching Institute from 2010 to 2011.
