Dr. Dimancescu is a neurosurgeon, researcher and former medical educator who is renowned for pioneering treatments for comas. A 40-year endeavor for him that has been primarily a pro bono effort, he was able to successfully bring many patients out of comas and back into their lives. Dr. Dimancescu also was responsible for pioneering new surgical techniques in the tri-state area, which he introduced in 2000.

Acquiring his first teaching role in 1975 as an assistant instructor in neurological surgery at the University of Miami, within just one year, Dr. Dimancescu had entered private practice at Neurological Surgery, P.C. currently located in Rockville Centre, NY. Taking a two-year hiatus in 2007, he served as the vice president of medical affairs at OmniCorder Tech, Inc. in Bohemia, N.Y. rejoining the practice in 2009. Neurological Surgery, P.C. is one of the New York City area's premier neurosurgical groups, offering patients the most advanced treatments of brain and spine disorders with seven locations across the state. Dr. Dimancescu was also the executive administrator and a senior neurosurgery consultant at Neurological Surgery P.C. from 2008 to 2015. He has been the director of brain studies at the Evan Thomas Institute in Philadelphia since 1980 and a consultant in neurosurgery at the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential, also in Philadelphia, since 1977.

Dr. Dimancescu spent 26 years as a continuing medical education lecturer on Long Island, 23 years as a surgical core faculty member of the Winthrop University Hospital Stony Brook University program, as an associate professor at Leeds University on the Touro College campus and as adjunct faculty member at Molloy College from 2007 to 2009. He is the former vice president of medical affairs for Advanced BioPhotonics, Inc., former longtime director of the International Coma Recovery Institute from 1977 to 2011, member of the board of directors of South Nassau Communities Hospital from 2000 until the present, and former medical council for the Long Island Network. Furthermore, Dr. Dimancescu was a former neurosurgery staff member for multiple hospitals and medical centers across Long Island, NY.

A longtime member several professional organizations, Dr. Dimancescu served as president and board of directors of the New York State Neurosurgery Society. Likewise, he had been the chairman of the board of directors of the Long Island chapter of the Coma Recovery Association. An elected fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Dimancescu continues to serve his community as chairman and board of directors of the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential and is the former chairman of the Princess Margarita of Romania Foundation.

Born in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, Dr. Dimancescu arrived in the U.S. in 1956, later earning a Bachelor of Arts at Yale University in 1962. Following this accomplishment, he traveled to France to complete a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toulouse in 1968 and an internship at Purpan Hospital. Doing his residency work at Albert Einstein Montefiore Hospital in New York, a research fellowship in spasticity and movement disorders at the University of Miami VA Hospital in Florida and a senior residency in neurosurgery at the University of Miami in Florida soon after, Dr. Dimancescu is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Awarded with a grant from the VA from 1972 to 1974, Dr. Dimancescu was also the recipient of a Gold Medal from the World Organization for Human Potential in 1978. He has been highlighted in approximately 50 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the World. Recently married to Candra Snyder in 2014, Dr. Dimancescu is the proud father of two children.
