Ms. Bailey has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the education industry

Linda Bailey chose to go into teaching because of her two younger sisters, who both have special needs.

MONMOUTH, ME, August 29, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Linda Bailey with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Bailey celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Bailey began her career in 1985 working in special education for School District #47 and went on to become an autism consultant teacher at Auburn School Department in Auburn, Maine and as a master teacher at Spurwink School Day Treatment Program, working in both positions until 2004. From 2004 to 2008, she was an instructor for the Spurwink School Day Treatment Program. Since 2008, Ms. Bailey works as a special education teacher for the Augusta School Department in Augusta. Ms. Bailey also served as a family support worker for SFW II at KidsPeace from 2000 to 2003 and as a math, science, and English teacher at Jonesport-Beals High School.

Prior to her career, Ms. Bailey received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Southeastern Massachusetts University, now known as University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, in 1973. This accomplishment was followed by postgraduate coursework at Northeastern University from 1974 to 1975 and at University of Maine from 1984 to 2003. In 1999, Ms. Bailey received her certification as a teacher.

Outside of her work as a special education educator, Ms. Bailey has worked as a supervisor for the American Bar Association, on the case management service staff and as an advisor for educational technicians from 1999 to 2004, and as a summer school teacher for the Auburn School Department from 2003 to 2008. She was a member of the board of directors for the Autism Society of Maine from 2002 to 2003 and she has worked as a volunteer for Special Family Weekend in Camden from 1984 to 2003 as well as for the Theater at Monmouth from 1994 to 2003. She has also been a contributing poet, co-editor of the North Coast Poetry Review and a contributor to the book "Anthology of Poets: No End to Fall River." Ms. Bailey has previously been selected for inclusion in the 24th edition of Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in American Teacher's 9th Edition (2004-2005), the 7th Edition (2006-2007), and the 5th Edition (1998).

Ms. Bailey chose to go into teaching because of her two younger sisters, who both have special needs. She had always wanted to help children, but seeing her sisters and other students who were not getting their needs met in school drove her to specialize in special education. Ms. Bailey considers the most gratifying part of her career to be when she was working closely with schools to teach them how to help her daughter Shawanna, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age, and other students like her. Shawanna is now 40 and currently in college for her undergraduate degree and considering a graduate degree next. Ms. Bailey considers Shawanna's success to be her biggest success as well.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Bailey has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
