With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Fleischman operated a private practice in psychiatry from 1975 to 2006, also serving as a seminar leader at Yale University from 1981 to 1987. In addition to his primary roles, he is a renowned author, having written articles for myriad journals, such as Nature, Landscape, the Yale Review, the University of Chicago Magazine, the International Journal of Social Psychiatry, the American Journal of Psychiatry, the Journal of Contemplative Psychiatry, Khabar Magazine, and Insight. Dr. Fleischman's written works include "Therapeutics Action of Vipassana Meditation," "The Experience of Impermanence," and "An Ancient Path." He is also the author of "The Healing Spirit: Religious Issues in Psychotherapy," "Cultivating Inner Peace," "Karma and Chaos," Collected and New Essays of Vipassana Meditation," "Spiritual Aspects of Psychiatric Practice," and "The Buddha Taught Nonviolence not Pacifism." In addition, Dr. Fleischman wrote "Wonder: When and Why the World Appears Radiant," and his work was anthologized in "The Power of Prayer."

Dr. Fleischman attended the University of Chicago, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. He continued his studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1971. He trained in psychiatry at Yale University from 1971 to 1974. Dr. Fleischman is a retired diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, Medical Honors Society, in his junior year of medical school.

Throughout his career, Dr. Fleischman has been recognized for his contributions, including having received the Oskar Pfister Award from the American Psychiatric Association, for his unique contributions to psychiatry and religion. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
