Amassing more than six decades of professional experience, Dr. Bradshaw is a venerated and prolific figure in the realms of musicology and education. Since 1948, he has been an organist and choirmaster in myriad churches across the state of California, as well as in Indiana and Illinois. Commencing his professional career as a music critic for the Gary Post Tribune in Indiana from 1962 to 1964, he served the majority of his vocation as a professor of musicology and history of music at the University of California, Los Angeles, between 1966 and 2004. During this time, he also acted as the chair of the department of musicology at the university from 1993 to 1995.

Bradshaw pursued formal education at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, IL, where he earned a Master of Music in piano and Master of Music in organ in 1955 and 1958, respectively. He concluded his education at the University of Chicago, receiving a Doctor of Philosophy in musicology in 1969. He delved into his profession due to his passion for history, language, writing, English, and music. Musicology encompassed all of those topics.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Bradshaw contributed articles and reviews to professional journals and has served as a respected author and editor in his field. Since 2000, he has been the general editor of "Musicological Studies and Documents and Miscellanea," and he also authored several publications, including "Emilio de' Cavalieri, Rappresentatione di Anima, et di Corpo (1600)" in 2007, "Conforti, 'Breve et facile'" in 1999, "Emilio d' Cavalieri" in 1990, and "Gabriele Fattorini" in 1986, among others. Likewise, he was a co-author of Girolamo Diruta's "The Transylvanian" (1593, 1609). published in 1984.

Dr. Bradshaw was the esteemed president of his local chapter of the American Musical Society from 1979 to 1981. As a testament to his professional successes, he was a grantee of the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1994 and the American Philosophical Society in 1987. Notably, he has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
