A retired human resources specialist, Ms. Todd served as the director of EEO affairs for the Carnation Company in Los Angeles from 1979 to 1983. While employed with the well-known food products company, her boss asked her to write an affirmative action plan, which not only earned her a promotion as an assistant director of personnel but also led her to working in labor relations management. Ms. Todd took several courses to become as educated as possible in her new role. Heeding the advice of several successful businessmen who supported and encouraged her along the way, she continued to excel and was forever grateful to those mentors.
Ms. Todd's memoir, "Reaching for the Stars," which she published in 2016, shares her story of how, at nearly 30-years-old, she began a new life after separating from her husband in 1965 with four children in tow and very few skills. Beginning a journey that turned disadvantage into opportunities, she narrates the steps she took to create stability for herself and her children. In addition to her book, Ms. Todd was the producer of the film "The Celebration," which won a 1990 Gold Medal from the New York Film and TV Festival.
From 1993 to 1997, Ms.Todd served as the president of BurntMeringue Production Company in Los Angeles. She is a longtime member and past president of the Southern California Council of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, a former president of Center Theatre Group Affiliates, and currently secretary for New West Symphony League. She has served in several roles locally as well, including as a court appointed special advocate for children through the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County and as an associate of the John Douglas French Alzheimer's Foundation in Los Angeles.
The recipient of a Best Student Film Award in 1990 and a Media Access Award in 1990, Ms. Todd has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco and has completed coursework in the extension program in film at the University of California at Los Angeles.
