An accomplished listee, Ms. Dixon celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. In 2000, Ms. Dixon retired from her position as a counselor at Wilcox Central High School as well as at W.J. Jones High School, where she had been a counselor since 1977. Beyond these counseling roles, she was the assistant principal at W.J. Jones High School from 1980 to 1984 and the cheerleader adviser for the Jones High Mustangs from 1969 to 1984, posts she considers to be the highlight of her career. Her first professional position was as a business teacher at W.J. Jones High School in Pine Apple, AL from 1967 to 1977. In addition, Ms. Dixon has been involved with the financial aid counseling workshop.

Ms. Dixon began her academic pursuits at Alabama State University in 1967, where she earned a Bachelor of Science. She continued her studies at this academic institution and ultimately earned a Master of Education in 1975. Her experience with personal guidance and her love for working with students led her to this career path. Beyond these degrees, Ms. Dixon is certified in business administration and education as well as guidance counseling.

As an active member of the community, Ms. Dixon is involved with such organizations as the National Education Association, the Wilcox County Education Association, the Alabama Education Organization, and the Order of the Easter Star Lodge. Her other notable memberships include Kappa Delta Pi, the Multi-Water Board, and the Unique Ebonettes Club. Likewise, she is the vice president of the J.F. Shields/MCTS Alumni Association. Ms. Dixon was a member of the County Extension Advisory Board in 1995, has been the secretary of the Tabernacle Baptist Church for 42 years, and is an active member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Throughout her career, Ms. Dixon has been acknowledged for her many accomplishments. From 1982 to 1983, she was the recipient of an award from the Alabama Guidance and Counseling Advising Committee and Society of Distinguished American High School Students in Birmingham, AL. In addition, she earned an award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Birmingham, AL in 1980 and an Outstanding Volunteer Award from the District IV Alabama Counseling Association from 1996 to 1997.

Furthermore, Ms. Dixon was presented with the Navy Recruiting Award and Outstanding Service Award from J.F. Shields/MCTS. Other awards include the Outstanding Reserve Officers' Training Corps Award from Congress and the Wilcox County Education Association Award in 1995. Her grandparents had 16 children and all but two of them completed college studies in math and science. Ms. Dixon has been featured in Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who Among American Teachers.
