Bernard Tresnowski has been recognized for his contributions, including with the Alumni of Distinction Award from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

With more than 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Tresnowski retired in 1994, having been the president and chief executive officer of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association since 1981. Prior to obtaining this position, he served the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association as the executive vice president from 1977 to 1981, and the senior vice president from 1967 to 1978. From 1963 to 1967, he was an associate administrator with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, and from 1961 to 1962, he was a research associate with the University of Michigan. Earlier in his career, Mr. Tresnowski worked from second assistant administrator to assistant administrator with the Albert Einstein Medical Center from 1958 to 1961.

Mr. Tresnowski began his career as a student at the University of Michigan, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1955. He subsequently completed a Master of Public Health in hospital administration with the University of Pittsburgh in 1958. Later in his career, he returned to his studies at Chicago Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1998. Mr. Tresnowski would gain admittance to the Illinois State Bar Association as well as the Chicago Bar Association.

A respected voice in his community, Mr. Tresnowski has been active with a number of professional organizations, such as the Health Administrators Study Society, the American Hospital Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Public Welfare Association, and the Health Management Education Association. He has been affiliated with the Society of Health Service Administrators, the American Health Planning Association, and the Conference Board. Mr. Tresnowski is the former president of the International Federation of Volunteer Health Service Funds, and he has served as staff attorney for the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago.

Throughout his career, Mr. Tresnowski has been recognized for his contributions, including with the Alumni of Distinction Award from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in America.
