As a graduate of Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration, Mr. Hinerfeld has served in his industry for more than six decades. Although he began his career in finance with Goldman Sachs as a security underwriter, Mr. Hinerfeld eventually decided to pursue a career in manufacturing in order to find satisfaction in making products and goods. Throughout his career, he has held executive positions at companies such as Julius Kayser & Company, Catalina, Inc., Kayser-Roth Corporation, Wingspread Corporation, Tica Industries, Inc., and Pandora Industries, Inc. He eventually became chairman and chief executive officer of the Delta Group, where he has served for the past 25 years. He has also served in various consulting capacities for non-profit organizations and as a board member, chairman, and council member for manufacturing companies. As an active manufacturing executive, he holds a patent for self-programmed automatic machinery and he co-authored an industry text with his colleague, D. Moross, titled "Automation-Challenge to Management."

Civically, Mr. Hinerfeld served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant. He has also served as chairman of several local committees and organizations including the International Policy Committee of the United States Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association, the New York Metro section of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), and the financial committee of the Animal Medical Center. He also sat on the board of overseers for the New York University Stern School of Business and served as a volunteer consultant for Harvard Business Community Partners.

While acting as chair of the New York section of BENS, Mr. Hinerfeld and his associates were involved in convincing the United Congress to establish a trading policy that would allow raw materials to be shipped and manufactured in foreign countries without being taxed. He also offered his expertise in various international trading efforts in pharmaceuticals and nuclear weapons. In order to remain aware of developments and changes in his field, Mr. Hinerfeld has maintained affiliation with the American Apparel Manufacturers Association, the International Apparel Federation and the National Knitted Sportswear Association.
