An accomplished listee, William Scarborough celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A former lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve, Dr. Scarborough has been recognized as professor emeritus with the University of Southern Mississippi, where he started as an associate history professor in 1964. For his professional accomplishments, Dr. Scarborough has earned the Richard Wright Literary Excellence Award and the B.L.C. Wailes Award. Additionally, he has been honored with features in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in American Education. In the near future, Dr. Scarborough intends to continue parlaying his knowledge of the field to others in his role as professor emeritus.
