Air conditioning company executive Mr. Sitra is the former president of Sitra for Service Inc., located in Miami, Fla. He established his heating, ventilation and air conditioning business in 1984 and retired in 2016 after working in the field for nearly 60 years. Mr. Sitra also owned and operated Sitra Distributing Company in Miami between 1982 and 2016, and Sitra Service Company in Hollywood, Fla. between 1974 and 1984. His distribution company included the purchase of a 5,000 square foot warehouse in Miami Lakes that dispersed air conditioning systems throughout Florida. Prior to becoming a business owner, Mr. Sitra was a service supervisor for People Gas System in Miami for 17 years, beginning in 1957.
Presently an investor and owner/operator of a 550-plus acre pine tree farm located in Fort McCoy, Florida, which has been certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a wildlife habitat because of the practices he follows on his property, Mr. Sitra is also a former president of the Commercial Center Miami Condominium Association and former president of the Winter Garden Condominium Association in Surfside, Fla. He is a longtime member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Air Conditioning Contractors of America.
Mr. Sitra was born in Brooklyn, where he graduated from Brooklyn Prep High School in 1955. Later relocating to South Florida, he studied at Broward Community College before becoming a Florida certified heating and air conditioning contractor. Notably, he has been cited in the 21st and 22nd editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
Mr. Sitra married his wife Jane Andrews Wilson on August 21, 1959 and so they have been married 58 years and have four children (two girls and two boys). Mr. Sitra's sons have continued as air conditioning contractors in Hollywood, FL and Fort McCoy, FL. Mr. Sitra also has 10 grandchildren, and so far, six great grandchildren. He enjoys managing his tree farm and feeding and caring for wildlife. He is fortunate in being adopted by a pair of Sandhill Cranes which have visited his property daily for more than 10 years.
