Robert Jones holds the title of professor emeritus in the department of family and community at the Penn State College of Medicine.

With a passion for searching for the truth and understanding the world, Dr. Jones has used the field of science to help others for nearly 60 years. In order to prepare for his career, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in physical sciences from Millersville University, a Master of Science in biological sciences from the University of Oklahoma, a Doctor of Education in biological sciences and human biology from the Pennsylvania State University, and a master's degree in community psychology, also from the Pennsylvania State University. He also completed several postgraduate and research courses at institutions throughout the United States. He was influenced to pursue a career in science by his mentor and high school science teacher, Allen Boyer. As a mentor, Mr. Boyer showed Dr. Jones the joy, challenges, and love for the scientific process. Dr. Jones began his career as a high school and college level sports coach, and later became a high school chemistry and physics teacher. After obtaining his degrees, he held positions such as public health officer, several professorships and research positions, and academic director appointments. Outside of his held positions, he also served as a consultant in health, sciences and education throughout his career. Today, he holds the title of professor emeritus in the department of family and community at the Penn State College of Medicine.

Civically, Dr. Jones has served in the United States Navy Reserve and the United States Marine Corps Forces Reserve. He has also volunteered his time to local museums, service organizations, local government, and school and college boards. He has shared his expertise in his field as a speaker and presenter at various workshops and lectures, and as an author, co-author and contributor to several industry texts, journals, scientific papers and chapters to books. In addition, he has testified on health and educational issues before the Pennsylvania legislature and the United States Department of Education. As a testament to his success and talent, Dr. Jones was recognized as an Honorary Physician by the Department of Family Medicine of the Peru State University College of Medicine, inducted into the North Lebanon High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and has received numerous teaching and academic awards from prestigious institutions and organizations. Dr. Jones finds the most gratifying aspect of his career has been when his students reach out to him and indicate that he made a significant difference in their lives as an exceptional educator.

In order to remain aware of developments in his field, Dr. Jones had affiliations with the Central Pennsylvania Sport Sciences Academy, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Human Biology Council, the American College of Sports Medicine, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, Scientific Social Services, the Land Conservation and Educational Foundation, the American Academy of PAs, the American Public Health Association, and various committees at the Penn State College of Medicine. Looking toward the future, Dr. Jones plans to continue studying the brain and astrophysics in the future.
