CHICOPEE, MA, September 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Diane Vanderwalker has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Vanderwalker began her professional career after receiving a NATO Fellowship from the University of Oxford in England from 1981 to 1982. She then became an assistant professor at the State University of Stony Brook from 1983 to 1985. There, she found some ideas for her publications that she used just preparing for courses. She found that going back to the basics was a good idea when she was doing research and teaching at the same time. She went on to begin a long-term position as a materials research engineer with the Army Research Laboratory in Watertown, Massachusetts from 1986 to 1994. During this time, she had also been a consultant for IBM in Yorktown Heights, New York.

Dr. Vanderwalker was always interested in science. As she went through school, she eventually went into material science and chose to work on dislocations and precipitation in materials. There were several problems she was able to work on over the years as a result of different types of publications. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Boston College in 1977, and went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1981.

Throughout her career, Dr. Vanderwalker has contributed numerous articles to professional journal. She has also been a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and enjoys oil painting in her spare time. She is listed in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
