Malcolm Cutchins, Ph.D., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Born in Franklin, VA, in 1935, Dr. Cutchins began in the field of engineering with Lockheed-Marietta in Marietta, GA, now known as Lockheed Martin. After becoming a senior mechanical engineer with the company, he joined Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as an instructor of engineering mechanics. Since the mid-1960s, he has served with Auburn University as an associate professor and professor. One of the highlights of his career was having his students recognize his teaching abilities. At Auburn University, they selected him for the college-wide Outstanding Faculty Award in 1967 and 1976.

An engineer, educator and researcher, Dr. Cutchins holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in engineering mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Throughout his active career, he held very significant leadership positions with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Sigma Gamma Tau and Omicron Delta Kappa, through which he won a Meritorious Service Award. For his excellence in engineering, he also won the Engineer of the Year Award through the Alabama Society of Professional Engineers in 1985, and the Auburn University College of Engineering Birdsong Merit Teaching Award in 1997. Additionally, he has been included in professional publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Looking forward, Dr. Cutchins intends to experience the continued rewards of being professor emeritus.
