Moye Wicks Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Wicks began his career as a process designer and mathematical engineer at Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma from 1957 to 1959. From 1965 to 1967, he worked as a research engineer for the Shell Development Company in Houston, Texas. Dr. Wicks continued his career with the Shell Development Company as the supervisor of fluid mechanics from 1968 to 1975.

From 1976 to 1978, Dr. Wicks held the position of technology manager at Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas. Following this appointment, he was the department manager at Shell Oil Company from 1979 to 1981. From 1981 to 1982, he worked as corporate secretary for the Shell Companies Foundation in Houston, Texas. He concluded his career with Shell Oil Company after he served as a senior research advisor for the Shell Development Company from 1983 to 1996. Furthermore, Dr. Wicks has been president of Flow Answers, LLC, in Houston, Texas since 1996.

In addition to his career, Dr. Wicks served with the United States Naval Reserve. He was also a National Science Foundation fellow from 1961 to 1965 and he served as co-director of the AGA-API Project NX28 in Houston, Texas from 1960 to 1965. He has also been a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He is the author of several published books including "Modern Chemical Engineering I" in 1963 and "Advances in Solid-Liquid Flow in Pipes" in 1970. Dr. Wicks is also a regular contributor of articles to professional journals.

Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Wicks received his Bachelor of Science in mathematics and his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1955. In 1958, he earned his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston. Dr. Wicks concluded his formal education in 1967 with a Doctor of Science in Chemical Engineering. His research advisor was Professor A.E. Dukler.

Outside of his career, Dr. Wicks was a member of the Torch Club of Houston from 1996 to 2015, holding the position of president in 2000. He is a member of the South Texas section of the American Institute for Chemical Engineers and was president in 1991. From 1973 to 1979, Dr. Wicks was also the chairman of the technology committee of the Design Institute of Multi-Phase Processing, of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Dr. Wicks has 26 United States and international patents to his name. He has also received an Award for Best Fundamental Paper from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in 1965 and in 1993, he was recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Dr. Wicks has previously been selected for inclusion in the 2nd edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
