Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by more than 60 years of professional excellence in his field, Mr. Peterson utilizes his expertise in aerospace engineering and computational fluid dynamics in his role as a private management consultant. Likewise, he is renowned for his development of a theory for motions of tumbling bodies entering planetary atmospheres.

A former captain in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Peterson holds a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering from Oregon State University, a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from Stanford University, and a Master of Science in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation as a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Whenever he wasn't working, he made sure to give back to those less fortunate through his role as a treasurer with the Woodland Acres Homeowners Association, where he served for almost 40 years.

Bush, as well as the Medal for Outstanding Leadership through NASA and the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship through MIT. He has either authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications.
