With more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Desjardins currently pursues research with the Center for Rapid Product Realization at Western Carolina University. Leveraging his career with the military, he previously served as a soldier skills trainer and linguist with the Northrop Grumman Corporation on assignment to Burundi, Ethiopia, and Rwanda (2012-2015). Mr. Desjardins has also been an invited author for a book on military electronic displays for the International Society for Optical Engineering (2010-2012).

During his 28 year military career with the United States Air Force, Mr. Desjardins was a space weather effects specialist at Hanscom Air Force Base (2010), a nuclear surety program manager with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (2009-2010), a senior mentor and technical advisor with the Space Counterintelligence Program, and a lead unit compliance officer and acting deputy division chief with the Space Vehicles Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base (2007-2009). Mr. Desjardins served as air liaison officer with the Combined Forces Command at Camp Eggers, Kabul, Afghanistan (2006-2007), and a cockpit avionics project manager with the Air Force Research Laboratory (1995-2006). In the interim as an inactive Reserve officer, he devoted his time to manuscript translation (French/English) for the Institute for Historical Review (1993-1994). During his ten years as a regular commissioned officer, Mr. Desjardins served as a lead electronic warfare test engineer at Eglin Air Force Base (1989-1992), and a lead weapon system simulation and controls and displays engineer for the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (1985-1989). In his civilian capacity prior to joining USAF, Dan was a pesticide residue analyst with the Florida Department of Agriculture (1978), an assistant bridge inspector with H.W. Lochner (1980) and a chemical formulations specialist with Benfield Industries (1981-1982). Early in his career, Mr. Desjardins was an English instructor at the École Libre des Attachés de Presse in Paris (1973-1974), and a factory laborer, mine worker, and brick layer with several firms in the south of France (1971-1973).

Mr. Desjardins received his preparatory education at Williston Academy, Easthampton, MA (1969-1972). He began his undergraduate studies at the American College in Paris (1973-1974), completing coursework in physics and French. He then attended Boston University (1975-1976), followed by Florida State University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in chemistry (with minors in math and French) in 1977. He subsequently studied at the University of New Mexico, receiving a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1984. Still later, he attended Queen Margaret University College in Scotland, earning a Master of Arts in playwriting in 2001. Dan is certified as an "engineer in training" through the Florida State Board of Professional Engineers and a "distinguished toastmaster" by Toastmasters International. He further holds certification in defense language proficiency (French) and program management through the United States Air Force. For his contributions in the field, Mr. Desjardins has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
