With more than 15 years of industry experience to her credit, Rev. McCreary is currently retired, having most recently worked as chaplain at Heartland Hospice Services of Kansas City from 1998 to 2006. Prior to this appointment, she held the position of associate pastor at Leawood United Methodist Church from 1995 to 2003. Previously, she served the Asbury United Methodist Church as a diaconal minister from 1990 to 1993. Rev. McCreary began her career on the Kaleidoscope staff for Hallmark, Inc., from 1987 to 1991.

Before embarking on her professional path, Rev. McCreary attended Joplin Junior College from 1950 to 1952. She then raised five children before returning to her studies at the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. She concluded her studies at Saint Paul School of Theology in 1991, graduating with a Master of Divinity. Following these accomplishments, Rev. McCreary garnered recognition as an adult church school teacher and a world traveler.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Rev. McCreary has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She has contributed multiple presentations to the Women's Wisdom Week in Crete, Greece, and served on the speakers bureau of the Historical Society of Kansas City from 1997 to 2004. She found success with her written works as well, having authored "The Dime Store" in 2002, as well as many articles for esteemed periodicals. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Rev. McCreary was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
