Louis G. Hunter passed away on 11 January 2016 and is buried in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Moody Hunter.

The son of Louis and Bobbie Hunter, Dr. Hunter was born in Coleman, TX, on 10 June 1933. He married Catherine Moody in Mesa, AZ, on 29 April 1959. They are the parents of Steve, Becky, Julianna, Jeff, Kate, and Blake.

Dr. Hunter began his career as an engineer for North American Aviation in Downey, CA, from 1963 to 1965. He later worked for ARO, Inc., in Tullahoma, TN, from 1972 to 1977. He was an aerospace engineer at the Arnold Engineering Development Center for six years. Dr. Hunter concluded his career as a specialist in Computational Fluid Dynamics at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX, from 1978 until his retirement in 2002.

Alongside his career endeavors, Dr. Hunter was commissioned as second lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1962. Following this appointment, he served on the United States Air Force Reserve from 1962 to 1984. During this time, he advanced through the grades to lieutenant colonel. From 1970 to 1976, he was an associate professor of physics and the math and science department chair at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma. Additionally, he taught part-time at Tarrant County College and Hill College from 2002 to 2015. Dr. Hunter was also a regular contributor of articles to professional journals.

Prior to his career, Dr. Hunter received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, in 1958. Following this achievement, he obtained a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University in 1963. Dr. Hunter was a Ph.D. fellow at the North American Aviation Institute from 1965 to 1968. In 1969, Dr. Hunter received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Tennessee Space Institute in Knoxville, TN.

Dr. Hunter was honored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1986 and has additionally been recipient of the Advancement in Aerospace Sciences Award. He was decorated with the Commendation Medal from the United States Air Force Flight Dynamics Lab, Wright Patterson AFB, and was also the holder of 13 patents with the United States Patent Office. He was previously selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America. Dr. Hunter passed away on 11 January 2016 and is buried in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Moody Hunter, who accepts this Lifetime Achievement honor on his behalf.
