Robert Casad, Esq. to be Included in Who's Who in the World

Mr. Casad has traveled and served as a visiting professor of law across three continents



Robert Casad is the five-time recipient of the Rice Prize from the School of Law at the University of Kansas.

    LAWRENCE, KS, September 24, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Casad, Esq., will be included in Marquis Who's Who in the World in recognition of his internationally known scholarship in civil procedure, jurisdiction and conflict of laws. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With a career spanning over 60 years, Mr. Casad has worked as a law educator at a wide variety of educational institutions around the world. He began teaching as a law instructor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, from 1957 to 1958, and then held a brief position as an associate at Streater & Murphy in Winona, MN, from 1958 to 1959. He then began his long-term tenure at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS, starting out as an assistant professor in 1959. He was promoted to associate professor in 1962, and again to full professor in 1964. Between 1965 and 1978, he received several fellowships in his field from organizations that include the Ford Foundation, Harvard University, the Organization of American States, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. In 1981, he became a John H. and John M. Kane Professor of Law at the University of Kansas, and served in that position until his retirement in 1997.

In conjunction with his full-time positions, Mr. Casad has also served as a visiting professor at a number of universities in multiple countries. His first visiting professor role was at the University of California, Los Angeles, between 1969 and 1970. From then on, he would hold this role at numerous institutions that include the University of Illinois, the University of California Hastings College of the Law, Emory University, the University of Vienna in Austria, the University of Valladolid and University of Salamanca in Spain, and Chuo University in Japan. Prior to his teaching career, he also served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force between 1952 and 1953, and continued flying as a private pilot from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Mr. Casad earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas in 1950, where he later earned a Master of Arts in 1952. He later obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, from the University of Michigan in 1957, and was admitted to practice in the state of Kansas and the U.S. District Court of Kansas that same year. The following year, he was admitted to practice in the state of Minnesota. He went on to receive a Doctor of Juridical Science from Harvard University in 1979, which is the university's most advanced law degree that is designed for aspiring legal academics who wish to pursue sustained independent study, research, and writing. Six years later, he was admitted to practice in the Tenth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals. He has also been a member of the Civil Code Advisory Committee of the Kansas Judicial Court, as well as a member of several other law-related associations, including the American Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Law Institute and the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Casad is the five-time recipient of the Rice Prize from the School of Law at the University of Kansas. He was also awarded the university's Balfour Jeffrey Research Prize in 1984 and the Coblentz Prize from the School of Law at the University of Michigan in 1957. In addition, he was honored with a medal from the Dana Fund for International and Comparative Legal Studies in 1981, from which he has also received a grant. He is listed in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in the Midwest. Most recently, he was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in the World.
