ROSENDALE, NY, September 24, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's , premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Paul Russell, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Russell celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Russell has been a professor of English at Vassar College since 1983. In addition to his academic role, he is a renowned author, having written numerous books and novels. He is the author of "Immaculate Blue," "War Against the Animals," "The Coming Storm," "Sea of Tranquility" and "Boys of Life." He also wrote "The Salt Point," "The Unreal Life of Sergey Nabokov" and "The Gay 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Gays and Lesbians, Past and Present."

Initially intending to pursue a career in music composition, Dr. Russell discovered that his talents were better suited to English writing and education following a semester in Germany. He studied at Oberlin College and Conservatory, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1978. He then joined Cornell University, completing a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing in 1982 and a Doctor of Philosophy in English in 1983.

Dr. Russell credits much of his success to his father, Jack, who was a mentor to him and was highly supportive of his writing early in his career. In addition, his first work was problematic and he received a rejection letter from David Groff at Crown Publishing which explained what he needed to do in order to succeed and write more effectively. His fourth book marked a turning point for Dr. Russell, leading him to become a respected voice in the field.

Throughout his career, Dr. Russell has been recognized for his contributions, including with two Ferro-Grumley Awards, the Literary Fiction Silver Medal, and the Independent Publishers Book Award. However, he considers the highlight of his career to have been when the gay son of an astronaut who walked on the moon sent him a letter of appreciation for his work on "Sea of Tranquility."

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Russell has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
