Derek Raghavan Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Raghavan has served as president of the Levine Cancer Institute since 2011, and has worked as a professor of medicine at Atrium Health System since 2016. Prior to this appointment, he also worked as a professor at a number of other educational and medical institutions, such as the Taussig Cancer Center at the Cleveland Clinic from 2004 to 2010, the Norris Cancer Center at the University of Southern California from 1997 to 2004, the University of Buffalo and the Roswell Park Cancer Institute from 1991 to 1997. In addition to this tenure, Dr. Raghavan has held numerous board positions on a variety of committees for organizations that include the German Cancer Aid since 2011, the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer since 2000, the Irish Cancer Society in 2015, and several others.

Dr. Raghavan earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with honors from the University of Sydney in 1974. He then completed a residency and fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 1974 to 1977, and went on to receive a Doctor of Philosophy from London University in 1984. He also trained at Royal Marsden Hospital and Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, London. Years later, he returned to the University of Sydney to acquire a Doctor of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Raghavan has also been certified by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Foreign License Examiner's Council, the Education Council of Foreign Medical Graduates, the General Medical Council, and the New South Wales Medical Board.

Dr. Raghavan was awarded the James D. Wolfensohn Award by the Sydney University Graduates Union of North America in 2017, and was named Physician of the Year by Charlotte Business Magazine in 2013. A decade prior, he won the Frank S. Moran Award for Leadership in Cancer Research from the University of Michigan in 2003. Dr. Raghavan was also honored as a Moreton Memorial Lecturer at the Health Science Center at Texas A&M University in 1995, and was named Hospice Physician of the Year by the Hospice of Buffalo in 1994.

Additionally, Dr. Raghavan received research grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council in Australia from 1983 to 1990. In 1978, he was a traveling fellow of the New South Wales Cancer Council. Dr. Raghavan has also been listed in the sixth edition of Who's Who in American Education and several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
