LANCASTER, OH, September 28, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Polly Sue Lyons with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Lyons celebrates many years of experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of experience, Ms. Lyons retired in 1995, having held early retirement status with The Ohio University–Lancaster Campus from 1993 to 1995. Prior to obtaining this role, she served the school as an associate professor from 1983 to 1993, an assistant professor from 1970 to 1982, and as an instructor of health and sport sciences from 1967 to 1970. Finding that at the time there were few other career options for women, and supported by her family, she pursued the field, finding that she had a natural talent for physical education. She began her career as a student at The Ohio University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in education in 1962 and a Master of Education in 1965. Ms. Lyons is certified as an elementary and secondary school educator by the state of Ohio.

A respected voice in her community, Ms. Lyons has been affiliated with numerous organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has served as a volunteer instructor of first aid and CPR for the Fairfield County chapter of the American Red Cross, on the board of directors and as supervisor of the Safety Town Credit Program of Ohio University Lancaster Campus and Lancaster Police Department, and on the board of directors of the Fairfield County chapter of the American Heart Association. She has been chair of special events, of the Jump Rope for Heart program, of the Ohio Association of Physical Education, and she is active with the Friends of the Library of The Ohio University–Lancaster Campus. In addition, Ms. Lyons created and directed The Jumping Cougars, a Jump Rope for Heart Demonstration Team, a group of college students who gave demonstrations of rope jumping skills at area elementary, junior and senior high schools. And, Ms. Lyons taught classes in Southeastern Ohio and Central Ohio correctional institutions under the federal Pell Grant program.

Throughout her career, Ms. Lyons has been recognized for her contributions, including with the Twenty-Year Service Award from the Fairfield County chapter of the American Red Cross and the Meritorious Award from Jump Rope for Heart. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in the Midwest. In her free time, Ms. Lyons enjoys hiking, reading, and writing.
