GREELEY, CO, September 28, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Richard Bond, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Bond celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Bond is the founder (1978) of the National Student Exchange, which in the last 50 years has exchanged more than 2000 college students annually around the world, co-founder (1986) of the Greeley Dream Team, a high school drop-out prevention organization, co-founder (2014) of Salida del Sol Academy, a dual language charter elementary school, and founder (2018) of the Bond Institute for Elementary Science Teaching. All are currently vibrant.

Dr. Bond has served as the president of the Bond Family Foundation since 1995, which actively partners with local agencies to expand educational opportunities for public and charter school students and for local aspiring teachers. He became involved in his profession due to the influence of his parents, Harley Donovan Bond and Marcella Randolph Bond, who had always been a part of the community in so many ways. Thus, it became natural for him to span out into areas where there was need. Prior to this role, he was the president of the University of Northern Colorado (1971-1981) and the Community Foundation of Greeley and Weld Counties from 1996 to 2000, Morgan Community College in Fort Morgan, CO, from 1991 to 1996, and Front Range Community College in Westminster, CO, in 1991. He was also a candidate of the Fourth Congressional District of the U.S. Congress in 1990 and has fulfilled a variety of other teaching and administrative positions across the United States and Liberia.

Before pursuing an education, Dr. Bond enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. After his service, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Salem College in Salem, WV, in 1948. He went on to obtain a Master of Science from West Virginia University in 1949 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin in 1955. He completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Michigan between 1958 and 1959, and he has received two honorary doctorates from Salem College and the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Bond has also received fellowships from such prestigious organizations as the Carnegie Foundation from 1958 to 1959, the American Psychological Society in 1958, and the National Science Foundation from 1953 to 1954. In addition, he has been a board member of several organizations over the course of his professional career.

As a member of the Colorado legislature from 1984 to 1990, he authored the Post-Secondary Options Act and he has also contributed several articles to professional journals. He was awarded the Political Educator of the Year Award by the Colorado Education Association in 1991 and the Mental Health Award in 1990. He was also awarded two Legislator of the Year Awards, one from the Colorado Academy of Pediatrics in 1989 and the other from the Disabled American Veterans in 1988. He is listed in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the West.

Dr. Bond has been married to Reva Stearns since 1946. They have four children: Harley David, Philip Stearns, Josette (Schaffere) and Michael Randolph, five grandchildren: Benjamin, Kayla, Zachary, Joshua and Bradley, and two great-grandchildren: Emersyn and Cessily. As Dr. Bond said, "No public recognition can come close to my pride and gratitude for the support, sanctuary and closeness yet independence, achievement and character of my wife and family."

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Bond has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
