Mr. Young currently serves as a pastor of the Church of the Brethren. His career began as pastor for the Baltimore Annual Conference, a position he held for 18 years. In 1991, he changed career fields, becoming an addictions counselor, first at the Washington County Health Department, and then in 1996, with Roxbury Behavioral Healthcare, now known as the Roxbury Treatment Center.

Mr. Young spent a year as a substitute teacher for the Washington County Board of Education in Maryland. During this time, he also coached basketball at Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Maryland. Mr. Young made another career change in 2001, joining the Monumental Life Insurance Co., now Transamerica Premier Insurance Co., as an agent. He held that same position at Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society before returning to his pastoral roots in 2018. Prior to commencing his career, Mr. Young received a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon in 1970 and a Master of Divinity from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., in 1973. He is also a licensed pastor of the Church of the Brethren.

Mr. Young has dedicated a considerable amount of effort to altruistic work. He chaired his church's and district's service and outreach committees, and founded his church's ministry to the homeless. He has also contributed his efforts to build two homes with Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, he has coached soccer and basketball at his local YMCA and coached Little League Baseball. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Young was selected for inclusion in the 56th edition of Who's Who in America.
