Juanita Beason Tutt, RN, LNC, Celebrates Years of Professional Excellence

Ms. Tutt was honored as Nurse of the Year by the Metropolitan Washington Association of Occupational Health Nurses

    FORT WASHINGTON, MD, October 18, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Juanita Beason Tutt, RN, LNC, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Tutt is currently retired, having most recently worked as the chief nurse for the Smithsonian Institution from 1981 to 2008. In this position, she managed a staff of nine registered nurses and four emergency medical technicians as a full-time primary medical authority who cared for the museums employees and visitors while simultaneously advising higher management on medical issues, helping plan their Occupational Health Services Program, and supervising quality control over on-site health units. Prior to these appointments, Ms. Tutt served as a nurse at the Tenth Combat Support Hospital in Germany, as a nurse in the labor and delivery unit at the Fort Dix Hospital, and as a medication administration instructor for child day-care facilities.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Tutt pursued an education at the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, completing coursework in nursing in 1959. She continued her academic efforts through the Management Assessment Program at the Management Development Center in Oak Ridge, TN in 1994, the Reinventing the Organization Seminar at the Management Development Center in Lancaster, PA in 1995 and Government Performance and Results coursework at the Western Management Development Center in Denver, CO in 1996. She concluded her studies at the American College of Legal Nurse Consulting in 2003, graduating with a Legal Nurse Consulting Diploma. Additionally, Ms. Tutt obtained certification as an occupational health nurse specialist in 1973, an occupational health nurse in 1990 and 2005, and a case manager in 2000 and 2003.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Tutt has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She has notably contributed to the nominating committee and the board of directors for the South County Economic Development Association. Ms. Tutt found further success with her work through the Democratic Party and the Harmony Hall Regional Center.

In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Tutt remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. From 1969 to 1970, she maintained involvement as a healthcare coordinator for the Parent-Child Care Center in Newark, NJ. She was also active with the New Jersey Youth Corps from 1968 to 1969 as a medical counselor. Likewise, Ms. Tutt was a member of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses and the Metropolitan Washington Association of Occupational Health Nurses for many years.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Tutt has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. She was recognized as the Alpha of the Florida chapter of the Delta Epsilon Tau International Honor Society for Distance Learning in 2003. Furthermore, Ms. Tutt was selected for inclusion as Nurse of the Year for Leadership and Professionalism by the Metropolitan Washington Association of Occupational Health Nurses.
