Dr. Johnson began his career as an intern in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts from 1966 to 1967. After this opportunity, he served as a resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1967 to 1969 and again from 1971 to 1973. From 1973 to 1975, he worked as a resident at the University at Buffalo. He also organized and founded the New England Allergy and Immunology Laboratory Inc. in North Andover, Massachusetts in 1973, for which he has held the position of president and owner since 1984. In 1975, Dr. Johnson founded the New England Allergy and Immunology P.C., where he remains active as president and owner.
Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Johnson completed undergraduate coursework at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada from 1959 to 1960. In 1966, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in Canada. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Likewise, Dr. Johnson has been licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Florida.
In addition to his career, Dr. Johnson served as a major in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1971. He has also held the position of medical director of the Sympta Corp and has sponsored holiday concerts for children in need in Lawrence, Massachusetts for seven years. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Association of Clinical Immunologists and Allergists, the American Association of Certified Allergists and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Johnson also maintains membership with the American Medical Association, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.
Dr. Johnson was recognized as a scholar of the Teagle Foundation from 1962 to 1966. He also developed the first Food and Drug Administration approved asthma kits for mild, moderate and severe asthma. Dr. Johnson has previously been selected for inclusion in the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, the first edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and multiple editions of Who's Who in the East.
