Following the completion of her residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin's affiliated hospitals, she became an instructor in pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
In 1987, Dr. Marcdante completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care at the University of California, San Francisco before returning to the Medical College of Wisconsin. Since that time, she has held numerous positions for the college including assistant professor of pediatrics, associate professor of pediatrics, associate dean for curriculum, chair of the rank and tenure committee, vice-chair of education of the department of pediatrics, and senior associate dean for education. From 2005-2007, she also served as the president of the Medical Dental staff at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa.
After studying at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Marcdante earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and certified in pediatric critical care medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. Additionally, she was certified in executive coaching by the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Marcdante was the director of Medical College of Wisconsin's pediatric critical care fellowship from 1995 to 2010 and 2013 to 2018. She is currently director of the pediatric hospitalist medicine fellowship. She has held numerous leadership positions for several professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics. Dr. Marcdante has also authored and contributed an extensive number of articles to professional journals.
Dr. Marcdante was the recipient of the New Investigator Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges in 1992, the Certified Leadership Award from the YWCA and Marquette Electronics Foundation in 1992, the Laureate Award from the Central Group on Educational Affairs in 2004, and the Distinguished Service Award from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2009. She was also a grantee of the United States Department of Health and Human Services from 1996 to 2017. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Marcdante was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
