LOS ANGELES, CA, October 29, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lloyd John Ogilvie, DD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Rev. Ogilvie celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

The Rev. Ogilvie celebrates more than 60 rewarding years as a preacher. His initial interest in public speaking was piqued when he was a teenager. He was taken under the wing of a prominent speech teacher, John Davies. Under Mr. Davies' instruction, during his high school years he was able to win several speech contests, and in his senior year, write and deliver an oration for a National Original Oratorical Contest which earned him a four-year scholarship enabling him to attend Lake Forest College. He committed his life to Christ while attending Lake Forest College, where he also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to study for the ministry at the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. During his studies, he was deeply inspired by the writings of Dr. James Stewart and Dr. Thomas F. Torrance, who later became his mentors at New College, School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. After completing his studies in Scotland, Rev. Ogilvie became the first pastor of the Winnetka Presbyterian Church in Winnetka, IL, where he served for six years. Throughout his career, Rev. Ogilvie pastored at several prestigious churches, including the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, PA, for 10 years and the historic First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, CA, for 23 years. He also served as the 62nd Chaplain of the U.S. Senate for eight years, 1995 to 2003.

Alongside his undergraduate degrees, Rev. Ogilvie holds a Master of Theology degree from the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, as well as eight Doctor of Divinity degrees, two Doctor of Humane Letters degrees, one Doctor of Letters degree, two Doctor of Laws degrees and one Doctor of Sacred Theology, among several other notable diplomas. As a testament to his contributions as an influential pastor, the Fuller Theological Seminary established the Lloyd John Ogilvie Chair of Preaching, and also a Lloyd John Ogilvie Institute of Preaching for preachers across the nation, providing conferences, local small groups, and inspirational, continuing education. He has also been named Preacher of the Year in Media, received the Gold Medallion Book Award for his book "Making Stress Work For You," and was recognized as "One of the 12 Most Effective Preachers in the English-Speaking World" by Baylor University. He has authored countless inspirational books and was the General Editor of the 32-volume Communicators Commentary of the Bible. For 17 years, he hosted a television and radio program, "Let God Love You." Rev. Ogilvie counts as one of the highlights of his career being invited back to the University of Edinburgh to give the Gifford lecture during the 225th anniversary of the university. Rev. Ogilvie is grateful to have had the privilege of working with scholars and leaders in each church he led as a pastor.
