Lee St. John, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. St. John celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Interested in the realm of academia during his formative years, Dr. St. John held a natural affinity for education, having been influenced by his grandfather, two aunts and mother, all of whom were public school teachers. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University in Oxford, OH, in 1961, he subsequently received a Master of Arts in Zoology from Indiana University. Following these accomplishments, Dr. St. John obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Zoology from The Ohio State University in 1970. His primary research focus was on the life history and distribution of freshwater decapods, resulting in four publications in the Ohio Journal of Science.

While pursuing his graduate degree, Dr. St. John served as an instructor at Miami University for two years. Four years later, he held the role of research specialist at The Ohio State University, thus receiving his doctorate at the end of his appointment. Enjoying a longstanding career that has spanned nearly five decades, Dr. St. John officially retired in 2012. In an additional and very rewarding aspect of a teaching career, Dr. St. John and his wife, Mary St. John, who also received her PhD in Zoology from The Ohio State University, have taught an adult Sunday School class since 1978. They also are Lay Speakers in the United Methodist Church.

Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. St. John was an instructor of health technology at Central Ohio Technical College for 10 years. Since 1984, he has held the position of educator for the Licking Alcohol Prevention Program in Licking County, OH. In an effort to remain aware of recent developments within his industry, Dr. St. John has maintained affiliation with the Ohio Academy of Science, where he served as vice president of the zoology section in the early 1980s.

As a testament to his success, Dr. St. John has been honored for his exceptional undertakings in his field of expertise. He was presented with a Mary Osborne fellowship from the Ohio State University in 1966. Thereafter, he accepted the Good Teaching Award from the Ohio State University in 1977. However, when asked of his career highlights, Dr. St. John says that teaching nursing students about human biology has been the most rewarding, as they transitioned to become compassionate and helpful advocates in the community.
