After which, in 1955, he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving with the Third Armored Division in Germany for 18 months, where he spent one year working in public information and also started a division newspaper and conducted numerous interviews.

He began his professional career as a motion picture director with Allstate Insurance Company in Skokie, IL, in 1958. Two years later, he began working as the advertising manager of Federal Life Company for three years before moving to the Robert Deitz Company as their account executive until 1967. During this time, he has also been on the advisory committee for Lewis University in Lockport, IL.
Throughout his career, he has also been active with the Chicago Ad Club, the American Association of Advertising Agencies, and Sigma Delta Chi. He is listed in the 24th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
