Cameron with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Cameron celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Since 1980, Dr. Rita G. Cameron has been the owner of the School House Global Enterprises Publisher Company in Fort Washington, MD. Overlapping with this role, she was a freelance writer of travel articles for AAA in Washington, DC, from 1978 to 1983. She also spent time freelance writing education materials in Baltimore, MD, for World Class Learning Materials, Inc. in 1975, for Learning Well in 1995, and for Media, Materials, Inc., from 1965 to 1975.

Prior to her role as a freelance writer, Dr. Cameron taught in public schools, a path she was guided toward by her sister, Mary Maloney. Her first position was as a teacher in public schools in Washington, DC, from 1959 to 1964. She continued on as a principal at Prince George's County Public Schools in George's County, MD, from 1964 to 1973 and again from 1976 to 1984. In between these dates, Dr. Cameron was the supervisor of instruction for kindergarten through twelfth grade in 13 schools from 1973 to 1976.

Dr. Cameron's academic pursuits began at the University of Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor of Science, with honors, in 1957. She continued her studies at American University in Washington, DC, in 1962, where she received a Master of Education. Ultimately, she earned a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University in 1978. Years later, she regularly was a consultant and presenter to school systems and educational organizations from 1985 to 1995.

An active member in the community outside of education, Dr. Cameron has been a food preparer with So Others Might Eat in Washington, DC, since 1985. Since 1992, she has also prepared food for Missions of Charity Home for AIDS Victims in Washington, DC. Additionally, she sponsored education for six children in India with the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, now known as Unbound, since 1998. Currently, she sponsors education for 107 children in the Unbound Program in India.

Over the years, Dr. Cameron has authored many works, including "Let's Learn about Maryland and Prince George's County" in 1970; "Let's Learn about Maryland" in 1972 and 1975; "Super Sub! Or How to Substitute Teach in Elementary School" in 1974; and various AAA travel articles and traffic safety teacher guides for fourth through sixth grade in 1982 and 1983. Moreover, Dr. Cameron is the author and publisher of "The Master Teachers Plan and Record Book" in 1985, and "The School House Encyclopedia of Educational Programs and Activities" in 1991. Beyond these works, she is the author, publisher and national marketer of 89 social studies and science educational materials for students in fourth through tenth grade with her own company School House Global Enterprises. Her last book, published in 2014, is "Letters to Billie- A Love Story," a tribute to her late husband, Vaseleos Colevas. It can be obtained through School House Global Enterprises at P.O. Dr. Cameron has been acknowledged for her accomplishments through numerous awards throughout her career. In 1954, she received the Outstanding Citizenship Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1960-1961, she was awarded the National Teacher Award from the National Teacher of the Year Program, which she considers to be a special highlight of her career. Additionally, Dr. Cameron received the Outstanding Teacher of Sciences Award from the District of Columbia Council of Engineering and Architectural Societies and the Washington Academy of Sciences in 1964.

Other awards received include Outstanding Educator of the Year Award from Prince George's County Board of Education from 1982 to 1983, the American Historical Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1987, Outstanding Contribution to the Bicentennial Leadership Project Award from the Council for the Advancement of Citizenship in 1989. Dr. Cameron is a lifetime supporter of the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C., and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and the Kennedy Center of Stars.
