Lester M. Gottlieb Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who



Lester M. Gottlieb has had a diverse and long career.

    WHITE PLAINS, NY, November 13, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lester M. Gottlieb with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

With more than 60 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Gottlieb has had a diverse and long career as an honoree.

An entrepreneur born in Brooklyn, NY on May 3, 1932, he attended Brooklyn Technical High School, City College of New York, where he received a BA in Economics, and the NYU Graduate School of Business. He served in the military from 1954 to 1956 in Germany, where he was a member of two championship athletic teams and the Army Officials Association. He was selected to referee the American High School Football Championship.

As a student at CCNY, he was President of the Student Athletic Association, President of the Varsity Club, Chairman of the Stein Fund for Injured Athletes, and a member of the Executive Board of the Faculty-Student Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics. As an alumnus, he has been an on-campus speaker and mentor, career guide, founding member of the Lavender Hill Mob, President and Director of the Alumni Varsity Association, a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Director and Treasurer of the City College Fund, and Chairman of Fund-Raising for the Goldman Center for Sports and Recreation. He is the largest individual contributor to the Center (including donation of the scoreboard). As a graduate, he was honored with the Mark Asa Abbott Award and the Leo Klauber Award. An endowed scholarship is given annually for participants in women's sports, known as the Les Gottlieb Athletic Ultimate Teammate Award. He was elected to the Athletic Hall of Fame and received the Alumni Service Award.

Mr. Gottlieb joined IBM in 1956 as a sales representative and was promoted to national account manager for Seagrams and General Electric. In 1959, he was given his first industry-oriented territory in advertising and two years later received the Outstanding Sales Representative Award. From 1961 to 1969 his titles included Manager of Market Planning & Research for the Data Processing Division and Director of Marketing and Finance for IBM's first venture into intrapreneurship. In his last position at Data Processing Group Headquarters, he was responsible for controlling six major development laboratories with a budget of over $1 billion.

From 1969 to 1981, he was founder & CEO of Data Dimensions, a data processing services firm which became a public company, offering customers a variety of data processing services.

From 1982 to 1995, Mr. Gottlieb was founder and owner of CAMAC Equities Ltd., a vertically integrated real estate developer with nine subsidiaries handling all aspects of development, including syndication through CAMAC Securities, Inc. (member NASD, SIPC), marketing, financing, construction, acquisition and disposition of 30 properties in 16 states.

From 1996 to 2017, he was engaged in various entrepreneurial activities, including acquisition, management and sale of ten diverse businesses. He is presently a General Partner on two real estate projects in Connecticut and is engaged in recruiting surgeons for ambulatory surgery centers.

Mr. Gottlieb has served on many boards, including Technicon, Cuisinarts, The Center for International Management Studies, YMCA of Greater New York, and Connecticut Business and Industry Association.

His civic and pro bono activities include serving as a commercial arbitrator for American Arbitration Association, president of the Woodlands-Worthington Taxpayers Association, director of the North Greenwich (CT) Association, and co-chair of the Committee for Affordable Housing in Greenwich, CT.

Mr. Gottlieb has lectured at the IBM Management School, on real estate at the University of California, and was an international lecturer for the Association for Computing Machinery. He co-founded Management Technology Magazine and served on the Board of Advisers of Datamation Magazine. Mr. Gottlieb was also an adjunct associate professor at the University of Bridgeport (CT).

He was named Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA of Greater New York, served on the President's Council of the Republican National Committee, and was named an Honorary Ambassador of Vermont by Governor's Proclamation. He is a former National Champion and Gold Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. Mr. Gottlieb was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.

He has resided in Greenwich, Connecticut and White Plains, New York. He was a member of the Landmark Club and the Bailiwick Club of Greenwich. He has five children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
