Dr. Chuck Yim Gee has been recognized as dean emeritus of the University of Hawaii since 2000.

With nearly 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Gee was on the board of regents with the University of Hawaii Systems from 2009 to 2016, and he has been recognized as dean emeritus of the University of Hawaii since 2000. Prior to his retirement, he was a dean and professor with the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawaii from 1976 to 1999, having been an associate dean and professor from 1968 to 1975. Earlier in his career, Dr. Gee was a consultant with the East West Center from 1968 to 1974 and the associate director of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at the University of Denver from 1958 to 1968.
Dr. Gee began his career as a student at the City College of San Francisco, obtaining an Associate of Arts in 1957. As a returning U.S. Army veteran, he then joined the University of Denver, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1957. He concluded his studies with Michigan State University, completing a Master of Arts in 1958. Dr. Gee holds honorary doctorates from the Chinese Culture University of Taiwan and the University of Denver.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Gee has been affiliated with a number of organizations in his community including Rotary International and SKAL. He is a founding member of the Hong Kong-China-Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, Life Member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, the PATA Hawaii Chapter, and the UH Association of Emeritus Regents.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gee has been recognized for his contributions, including having been named to the Pacific Asia Travel Association Gallery of Legends with a permanent plaque mounted at Honolulu International Airport. He was named University Administrator of the Year, State Manager of the Year, receiving the Governor's Proclamation Honors. The then Honolulu Star Bulletin named him among its list of 100 Who Made a Difference in Hawaii during the 20th Century. Other significant honors encompass being named to the Travel Industry of America Hall of Leaders, the NOAH Award from the Academy of Tourism Organizations, the Taiwan Lifetime Achievement Award and the China National Tourism Administration's Award for Excellence in Tourism Education. Dr. Gee has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
