A retired senior partner at Craig & Craig, LLC, Attorneys at Law, in Mattoon, IL, since 2012, Mr. Corn was a practicing attorney at the firm for 43 years. Beginning his career in 1969, he specialized in litigation with an emphasis on medical negligence, insurance coverage litigation and errors and omissions litigation for professionals. During his tenure, he was involved in multiple significant cases both at the trial and appellate level. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Corn also lent his expertise by participating in various speaking engagements and seminars and by contributing numerous articles to professional journals on a number of topics.
Celebrating their 150th year in business in 2018, The Law Firm of Craig & Craig originally opened its doors in 1868 in the very same building where it remains today. The practice focuses on civil defense litigation, insurance coverage law, banking and regulatory work, commercial transactions and lease agreements, commercial and residential real property, trusts and estates and corporate matters. Mr. Corn served on the board of directors and as president of the Mattoon Area YMCA. He also served on the board of directors of the Harlan E. Earning the opportunity to serve on the board of the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois, Mr. Corn noted, was one of the most honorable appointments he was afforded during his career. Through the organization, law firms contribute trust fund money into separate accounts. The interest collected then supports legal aid for the indigent.
In recent years, Mr. Corn became the newly appointed secretary of the Coles County Health Program in 2014. He is a longstanding member and former president of the Coles Cumberland Bar Association and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, member of the Illinois Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Foundation, and an elected fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Between 1990 and 2006, Mr. Corn has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1966 and Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969. He has since been admitted to the Illinois Bar Association, the Southern and Central Districts of the U.S. District Court of Illinois, the Seventh Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. He held a certified public accountant license as well.
