With more than 35 years of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Smith is currently a database administrator for the International Literacy Association. Prior to this appointment, she worked as a conversion programmer with Thomson Elite. She worked at the University of Delaware before excelling as a teacher and programmer for Online Consulting. From 1987 to 1999, she held the position of systems analyst for Computer Task Group and Computer Aid, Inc. In 1999, Ms. Smith would serve as the assistant vice president of technical support for the Bank of New York.

Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science from the Pennsylvania State University. She later obtained a Master of Arts from the University of Delaware. She would launch her career as a teacher at various schools in Delaware, Texas and Pennsylvania. After completing a computer programming language course, Ms. Smith decided to alter her career path.

Ms. Smith has contributed numerous articles for professional journals. Outside of her primary responsibilities, she was licensed as an amateur radio operator by the Federal Communications Commission and currently serves as a Volunteer Examiner for licensing exams. Likewise, she is a member of Mensa as well as the National Rifle Association. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Smith was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
