Patricia Woodrum Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Patricia Woodrum was named Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma in 2000 and Library Legend by the Oklahoma Library Association in 2007.

An accomplished listee, Ms. Woodrum celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Woodrum began her career as a branch librarian with the Tulsa City-County Library in Oklahoma from 1964 to 1965. After this appointment, she held several other roles with the library, including head of branches from 1965 to 1966, head of the reference department from 1966 to 1967, and chief of extension and chief of public service from 1967 to 1973. She was further associated with the Tulsa City-County Library as assistant director from 1973 to 1976 and executive director from 1976 to 1996.

Prior to embarking on her career, Ms. Woodrum received her Bachelor of Arts from Pittsburg State University in Kansas in 1963. Following this accomplishment, she earned her Master of Library Science from the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 1966. Ms. Woodrum is a member of the American Library Association, the Oklahoma Library Association, where she served as president from 1978 to 1979, and the Public Library Association, where she held the position of president from 1993 to 1994.

In addition to her career, Ms. Woodrum worked as the executive director of the Tulsa Botanic Garden from 2004 to 2011. She also was a founder and continues today as a board member. She has been involved with Leadership Tulsa, the Oklahoma State Master Gardener Program and the Rogers State University, which saw her active as chair of the board of regents. She is also the founder of the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless and a founding member of the Juliette Low Leadership Society. Additionally, Ms. Woodrum has excelled as president of the board of the Tulsa Garden Center.

Ms. Woodrum was the recipient of the Distinguished Librarian Award from the Oklahoma Library Association in 1982 and the Meritorious Service Award from the Oklahoma Library Association in 1996. In 1987, she was presented with the Paragon Award from Leadership Tulsa, and in 1989, she received the Newsmaker Award from the Association for Women in Communications and the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies. Additionally, she was inducted into the Tulsa City-County Library Hall of Fame. Ms. Woodrum was honored in the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in 1993 and with the Headliner Award from the Tulsa Press Club in 1996.

Ms. Woodrum was named Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma in 2000 and Library Legend by the Oklahoma Library Association in 2007. She was celebrated with the Distinguished Alumni Award from Labette Community College and the Pinnacle Award from the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women in 2010. She was also awarded the Legacy of Leadership Award by Life Senior Services in 2015 and named a Legend by Tulsa People in 2018. Ms. Woodrum has previously been selected for inclusion in the 34th edition of Finance and Business and multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of American Women.
