An accomplished listee, Dr. Nagi celebrated many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Nagi has been recognized as professor emeritus of Bowling Green State University since 1998, having worked for the academic institute as a professor since 1980, associate professor since 1972, and assistant professor since 1969. In addition to his primary roles, he excelled as an external examiner with United Arab Emirate University in 1998 and 2002, and a visiting professor with Kuwait University. A consultant with Amiri Diwan and the Kuwait Institute of Scientific Advancement, he served as a senior consultant with the Government of Iraq and the Arab Project and Development Institute from 1974 to 1975.
He found success as the chair of sociology, anthropology and social work with Kuwait University from 1985 to 1987. Earlier in his career, Dr Nagi was a specialist with the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture from 1958 to 1962 and the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture from 1962 to 1964.
Dr. Nagi began his career as a student at Cairo University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1958. He then relocated to the United States, earning a Master of Arts in 1967 from Bowling Green State University. Dr. Nagi concluded his studies in 1970 at the University of Connecticut, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy.
A respected leader in the industry, Dr. Nagi has been active with a number of organizations in his community. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the International Platform Association, the Academy of Political Science, and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. Dr. Nagi has also been affiliated with the North Central Sociological Association, the Ohio Academy of Science, the American Gerontological Society, the New York Academy of Science, the Population Association of America, the American Sociological Association, the Rural Sociological Society, and the Midwest Sociological Society.
We are saddened to note that Dr. Nagi passed away in the fall of 2018. He is greatly missed by his wife of over 40 years. She states he was truly a man of rare brilliance. As noted, he was influential in multiple industries and educational institutions for many decades but his biggest influence was on his family, particularly his only daughter, with whom he left his final legacy.
