A highly esteemed attorney with more than 50 years of experience, Mr. Wilson is currently serving of counsel for Dorsey & Whitney LLP. Prior to this appointment, he excelled as an attorney for Jones Waldo in Salt Lake City from 1966 to 2017. While with Jones Waldo, Mr. Wilson also held the positions of firm manager, president, and chair of the board.
Prior to beginning his career, Mr. Wilson worked as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain from 1958 to 1960. He entered active duty in the infantry branch of the United States Army in 1964 and served at Fort Benning, Georgia; Fairbanks, Alaska; Hawaii and Vietnam, where he was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service as Battalion S1.
Mr. Wilson earned both a Bachelor of Science in 1962 and Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1964 from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He has been admitted to practice by the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, the United States Court of Military Appeals, the United States District Court of Utah and the Utah State Bar. Mr. Wilson is a member of the Utah Bar Association and American Bar Association.
Mr. Wilson's career has focused on working with cooperatives in both the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. He has served farmers and their cooperatives in dairy, sugar beets, sugar cane, farm supply, apples, tart cherries, cranberries, potatoes, onions, eggs and other crops. Mr. Wilson estimates that more than 10,000 farm families across the country have benefited from his services.
Former chair and current director of the This is the Place Foundation, Mr. Wilson also served as a trustee of the Walbridge Fund, and now serves as trustee of the Midway Heritage Foundation and the Scott M. Matheson Park Foundation. He has served on the board of directors of the Ireland Bank in Idaho and as advisor to the Utah Council of Farmer Cooperatives since 1978. He was also a member of the legal committee of the National Milk Producers Federation from 1978 to 1980. He was awarded the Dyer Memorial Sugar Man of the Year Award in 2011 and selected as a Midway Honored Citizen in 2014. In light of his exceptional accomplishments, Mr. Wilson was selected for inclusion in the 14th edition of Who's Who in American Law.
