With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Keller has been recognized as professor emeritus and a recall professor of pediatrics of the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, since 2014. Prior to her retirement, she worked as professor of pediatrics at the Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center from 2001 to 2014, having previously held the roles of an associate professor, an assistant professor, and a fellow of pediatrics and infectious diseases. Earlier in her career, Dr. Keller completed a fellowship with the University of California, San Diego, from 1975 to 1976, where she was an intern, resident, and chief resident between 1972 and 1975.

Dr. Keller began her career as a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1968. She then enrolled at the Washington University School of Medicine, completing postgraduate coursework from 1968 to 1970. She concluded her studies with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1972. Likewise, Dr. Keller is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics Infectious Diseases.

A respected voice in her areas of interest, Dr. Keller has been an active leader in her community. A contributor of numerous articles to professional journals, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Infectious Disease Society of America. The former secretary of the Harbor-UCLA Research and Education Institute board of directors, she also excelled with Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center as the vice president and the secretary-treasurer of the Faculty Society, a chair of the bioethics committee, and the director of the pediatric HIV-AIDS program. She had maintained involvement on the advisory board of the League of African American Women conducting community educational programs for teens about HIV as well as clinical trials for pediatric AIDS and international maternal pediatric and adolescent AIDS for the National Institutes of Health. Throughout her career, Dr. Keller has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.
