It is truly heartwarming to have made a positive impact on someone's life in helping them see better and feel great in their glasses.
HALIFAX, NS, December 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ --
Q: What does being a Consumer Choice Award Winner mean to you? How did winning the Consumer Choice Award impact your business?
A: We are thrilled to be recognized by our clients as their choice of optical supplier. This award came as a complete surprise to us. Even though we are 10 years old as a business, we are still either the newest Optical or among the newest optical stores in the HRM. In an industry of very large chain operators, we still feel like the new kid on the block and we strive to go the extra mile each and every day.
Q: What makes you/your company successful?
A: We try to be as helpful as possible with our clients' vision needs. We definitely care very much about our clients having a great experience with us. We are great at picking out glasses to suit everyone's individual style and adjust them so they are comfortable to wear. Good customer service is very important to us. Plus, we call people back. Such a simple thing, but it is often not executed properly nowadays. We actually call people back when we say we will. Our clients are important to us and I think our clients feel this when they interact with us. This is why we have been successful and we get a lot of word-of-mouth referrals.
Q: What is ONE characteristic that you believe helped you through your career?
A: I was actually trained as an engineer (Ed. Systems Design Engineering at Waterloo) before I became an optician. Having an engineering background, some things stay with you. I was taught to measure twice and cut once to save time, energy and cost. We definitely do that at All About Eyewear Optical so as to get it right the first time. It's much more efficient to do it this way. Clients are happy that I'm able to get the product to them quickly and accurately, saving them time. We strive to provide quality products. This type of thinking has definitely helped me in building our business. It probably doesn't work for a super high volume discount operation, but it works great for a personalized company such as ours.
Q: What is the next priority for your business?
A: We will be bringing in more luxury frame lines and popular brands. There are a lot of people in Halifax that appreciate high fashion and trendy products that are usually only available in bigger cities. I want to bring the fashion here.
Q: How do you keep up with the trends in your industry?
A: At the core, the eyewear industry is part of the fashion industry. So, our stylists are always tuned into fashion trends and pop culture. That's how we always keep our styles fresh and current.
Q: What is the most recent example of how you have exceeded your client's expectations on a job?
A: It is truly heartwarming to have made a positive impact on someone's life in helping them see better and feel great in their glasses. This year, we had some clients who had moved away for a few years and came home to visit family. They came directly from the airport to purchase their glasses from us. They had tried several places in their home province but couldn't find anyone that gave the same level of service that we offer. Another client who moved to British Columbia was only visiting for two days and came in to order premium progressive lenses from us because she missed being able to see as well. We ended up shipping her glasses to her.
Q: What makes your business unique in the market?
A: Luxury branded products like clothing and handbags in the super premium category are usually only accessible to the rich and famous. Think about the Oscars and the red carpet--those dresses, shoes and handbags are rare in most consumers' closets. All About Eyewear is able to bring an affordable option for anyone who wants a unique and stylish frame in a designer line. We carry Gucci, Christian Dior, Prada, Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, Saint-Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Tiffany, Vuarnet, RayBan, and Hugo Boss. So, it brings sparkle to anyone's wardrobe in a practical way--through their eyeglasses.
Q: What are the "core values" of your organization?
A: 1. Customer Service 2. Quality Results 3. Trust

If you could only use ONE word to describe yourself, what would it be?...Trustworthy. I do my best to deliver the best products to my clients to help them see well and feel good in what they are wearing. If I don't think the frame is flattering, I won't let the client walk out with it.
If you could see any artist dead or alive performing, who would it be?...Michael Jackson because he was iconic in his craft. He was so talented and his music resonated with so many generations. He died too young.
What movie title best describes your life?... "As Good As It Gets" . I love what I do.
What gets you out of bed every day?...A sense of duty to help people. I feel compelled to be available to help my clients when they need me. I'm usually at the Optical 6 days a week.
Where is the most interesting place you've been?...Milan, Italy. We went to the MIDO Optical Fair in Milan before we opened our business. It is an European convention for all things eye-related. It was an enlightening experience to see all the amazing frame designs straight out of the Fashion Capital of the world.
