Richard D. Kellough has been recognized as professor emeritus of education by California State University, Sacramento, following nearly three decades of service.

Retired from full-time professional activity for over 20 years, Dr. Kellough has been recognized as professor emeritus of education by California State University, Sacramento, following nearly three decades of service. Hired as an assistant professor of teacher education in 1969, he later served at this esteemed academic institute as an associate professor prior to earning the title of full professor between 1977 and 1997. Graduating from high school in 1953, Dr. Kellough began studying at Wilmington College, where he earned an undergraduate degree in 1956.

Recommended to apply for a part-time teaching position after graduation from high school, Dr. Kellough was quickly employed by the Clinton County Schools in Martinsville, Ohio between 1956 and 1959. He further earned a Master of Arts in teaching in botany at Miami University in 1959. He then began teaching for the San Juan Unified School District in Carmichael, Calif. between 1960 and 1961 and Davis Senior High School in Davis, Calif. between 1961 and 1969. Dr. Kellough concluded his studies with a Doctor of Education at Oregon State University in 1967.

Early in his teaching career, Dr. Kellough had the opportunity to work as a research assistant with the Kettering Foundation in Yellow Springs, Ohio from 1957 to 1958. He also excelled as a laboratory technician at the University of California at Davis from 1959 to 1961. In 1962, Dr. Kellough accepted a National Science Foundation research fellowship at the University of California at Davis.

Dr. Kellough has found success with his written works as well, having authored or co-authored more than 40 textbooks, including "A Resource Guide for Elementary School Teaching" in 2005. Co-authored with Patricia L. Roberts and Kay Moore, this publication is a practical, comprehensive and concise methods text designed to engage readers in "hands-on" and "minds-on" learning about effective teaching. Other books to his credit have included "Teaching Young Adolescents" in 2005, "Teaching and Learning K-8: A Guide to Methods and Resources" in 2007 and "A Primer for New Principals: Guidelines for Success" in 2008. For his many years of excellence in his field, Dr. Kellough has notably been featured in the 54th edition of Who's Who in America, the seventh edition of Who's Who in American Education and the 26th edition of Who's Who in the West.
