WESTON, MA, December 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Gerald E. Anderson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Anderson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Growing up in a small town in Minnesota, Mr. Anderson developed a passion for numbers and accounting in his youth, deciding on his career path fairly early in life. He would build an impressive career as a certified public accountant with the Minneapolis office of Arthur Andersen, a top accounting firm that laid the foundation for the achievements accrued in the years since. Gaining much expertise through this position over the course of 13 years, Mr. Anderson would cement his legacy through many administrative positions for the Commonwealth Energy System (previously known as the New England Gas & Electric Association) between 1966 and 1991 and retiring in 1992, having been President and CEO for the last 18 years.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Anderson pursued an education at Worthington Junior College in Minnesota, which he attended in an effort to assist his younger sister in achieving a higher education. Even though Worthington Junior College was small, he encountered some of the highest quality professors at the academic institute, including great economics and accounting professors. Earning an Associate of Arts in 1950, he transferred his credits to the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1952 while enabling his sister to complete her studies at a four-year college. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Anderson served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1953, holding the rank of first lieutenant prior to his release from active duty.

Retired since 1992, Mr. Anderson has dedicated some of his time, resources and efforts to the Josh Anderson Foundation, a mental health awareness organization that provides education, resources and support in the prevention of adolescent suicide. Founded by one of his sons, Tim and his wife Susan, in 2012 following the unfortunate and untimely death of their youngest son, Josh, this Foundation provides mental health awareness and resources to students through its signature program, Our Minds Matter, a peer-to-peer approach to spread the message that suicide is never the answer. His granddaughter Lauren further supports the Josh Anderson Foundation being its Executive Director by organizing and participating in fund raising events and increasing contacts with local schools.

Furthermore, the Josh Anderson Foundation has organized many community events through which mental health experts can share their personal experiences with both students and parents. In 2016, the organization developed Our Minds Matter, also known as OMM, which furthers the scope of mental health promotion by motivating students to change the school culture surrounding mental health. By supporting the efforts to seek help, promoting social connectedness, and encouraging self-care habits, OMM provides monthly themes and activities for students to engage with mental health topics in a way that is both fun and accessible. With 14 schools implementing OMM and more on the way, the Josh Anderson Foundation previously contributed to such programs as the Stress Less, Laugh More Campaign, Mental Health Awareness Week, their Speaker Series, and Yoga and Mindfulness Training. This encourages motivated parties to support the foundation through volunteer service, partnering through program sponsorship, creating fundraisers for the organization, having conversations with adolescents at risk, and donating to their signature program, www.ourmindsmatter.org or through their official website www.joshandersonfoundation.org. The only legacy which Mr. Anderson hopes will be a "lasting one" was his being able to provide both financial and counseling help to the Josh Anderson Foundation. As he explains, "It would not have been possible without the consistent and positive help given to me over the past 63 (and counting) years by my wife, Mary, and our 3 children and their families. It was truly a "whole family effort"

In addition to his personal and professional achievements, Mr. Anderson is proud of the total sum of his career, including completing the training and maintaining the discipline that is required to supervise hundreds of employees. Having been active with the United Way of Eastern New England, the Swedish Council of America, and Massachusetts General Hospital, he was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives Institute, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Beta Alpha Psi, among others. Mr. Anderson was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Anderson has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
