Prior to obtaining this role, he was managing partner of Mobium Creative Group from 2000 to 2013, having been a managing partner/ chief creative officer from 1997 to 2008 and group director/creative director, integrated marketing communications from 1991 to 1997. From 1986 to 1991, he was vice president, market communications and creative director of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, where he was previously director, marketing communications/creative development from 1984 to 1986, advertising manager from 1981 to 1984, assistant manager of advertising and sales promotion from 1979 to 1981, and assistant advertising manager from 1976 to 1979. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hochhalter held a number of positions with Armstrong World Industries, including senior promotion supervisor in 1976, promotion supervisor from 1974 to 1976, and assistant promotion supervisor from 1972 to 1974.
Mr. Hochhalter began his career as a student at Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. He is a member of the American Center for Design, the American Advertising Federation, the Chicago Advertising Federation, and the Taan Worldwide Agency Network. The former board director of the Chicago chapter of the Business Marketing Association, Mr. Hochhalter has also been affiliated with the Association of American Advertising Agencies and the New York Art Directors Club.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hochhalter has been recognized for his achievements. He was honored at the London International Advertising Awards, One Show, the Clio Awards, the Art Directors Club Awards, the Andy Awards, the Addy Awards, and the International Advertising Festival. He was decorated at the Chicago Tower Awards, the AIGA Awards, the Ace Awards, and the American Business Media CEBA Awards. The recipient of the American Business Press Objective and Results Award and the Cresta International Advertising Award, Mr. Hochhalter was given the Sawyer Award by Business Marketing Magazine, the Marcon High Technology Advertising Award, the Pinnacle Award, and the Icon Award by Business Week Magazine.
Pieces of his creative work are included in the Library of Congress, the AIGA Design Archives, and The University of Chicago Library.
