John L. Batzer is a senior lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Mr. Batzer is a retired senior staff scientist who was employed with ITT Corporation in Clifton, NJ, for many years. First hired in 1978, his most recent role was as part of ITT Exelis, Inc., one of three major companies that made up ITT Corporation. Working in the space systems division between 2011 and 2013, he formerly served as a staff scientist as part of ITT electronic systems between 2008 and 2011. Prior to Mr. Batzer's tenure with ITT, he served as a senior engineer for Monroe Calculator Company and a software engineer for Sperry Gyroscope Division, and USASA TEC.

ITT is a global engineering and manufacturing company that partners with customers in the transportation, industrial and energy markets. Specializing in providing highly engineered products and solutions that solve customers' most critical challenges, the organization has a global presence of 10,000 employees in roughly 35 countries and serves its global partners in more than 125 countries around the world.

Between 2013 and 2015, Mr. Batzer worked as an independent consultant for a global organization specializing in relay and small cell technology for 3G and 4G LTE in northern New Jersey. His expertise in the industry spans from software development, engineering, applications, algorithms and design and software engineering, to technology solutions, project management, quality assurance, cost control, process improvement and beyond.

Mr. Batzer is a senior lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Locally involved, he was president of the New Providence Music Boosters in New Jersey between 1991 and 1996 and a board trustee and treasurer of the St. Andrew's Nursery School in New Providence, NJ, between 1996 and 1997. He has been a longtime member of the vestry since 1994 and treasurer since 2011 at St. Andrew's Church.

Recognized throughout his career for his work, Mr. Batzer has also been included in the 56th through 58th editions of Who's Who in America and the seventh edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering. He currently holds one U.S. patent for methods and apparatus for synchronizing modems using a burst signal and a second U.S. patent for an RF modem modulation converter.

Developing an interest in the sciences when he was just a child, Mr. Batzer was awarded the grand prize at his school science fair when he was in ninth grade for his development of a repulsion coil. Continuing his journey in college, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania in 1973, followed by a Master of Business Administration in computer-aided information systems at New York University in 1975. He notably served in the U.S. Army between 1969 and 1972. Honorably discharged, he received an Army Commendation Medal for his service.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Mr. Batzer later married his wife, Elizabeth Ashe Cranmer Batzer. He is the proud father of five children and grandfather of eight grandchildren.
