For 57 years, Dr. Christe has excelled in the field of science. At the start of his career, he worked as a senior research chemist for Stauffer Chemical Co. After five years in that role, he held research positions with Rockwell International and the Air Force Research Laboratory for 37 years. In 1994, he also became a professor of chemistry at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In a career filled with highlights, many stand out. Dr. Christe is best known for the first chemical synthesis of elemental fluorine and his work in polynitrogen chemistry.

An expert in his field, Dr. Christe holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Stuttgart in Germany. He also pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Vienna in Austria. Dr. Christe has been elected a fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and the Arts, the European Academy of Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Throughout his lengthy career, Dr. Christe has received many awards, including the Apollo Award from NASA, three National ACS Awards in fluorine, inorganic, and iodine chemistry, the Prix Moissan, the ACS Tolman Award, the Alfred Stock Memorial Prize from the German Chemical Society, and the Star Team Award from the United States Air Force. He was also awarded a Honorary Professorship at the Nanjing University of Science and Technology in China. Considering his accomplishments, Dr. Christe has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, the 21st edition of Who's Who in the West and the 18th edition of Who's Who in the World.
